Pallet Rack Price in India: What Decides the Cost in 2026
22 October 2026 StackPro Industries 7 min read

The first question almost every buyer asks us is simple: "pallet rack ka rate kya hai?" The honest answer is that a pallet rack is not a fixed-price product like a bag of cement. Two racks that look identical in a photo can differ by 40% in price because one carries 800 kg a level and the other carries 2000 kg.

This guide explains exactly what you are paying for, so you can read any quotation with confidence.

How Pallet Racking Is Priced

Racking is quoted per bay (one set of two uprights plus beams and levels), or sometimes per pallet position. A bay is made of:

  • Uprights (frames) — two vertical columns braced together. Priced by height, steel thickness and section size.
  • Beams — the horizontal members each pallet sits on. Priced by length and load capacity.
  • Accessories — decking, pallet supports, column guards, safety pins, anchors.

Roughly 60–70% of the cost of a racking system is steel. That is why the price moves with the steel market and why cheaper quotations almost always mean thinner steel somewhere.

The Seven Things That Change Your Price

1. Load per level

This is the single biggest factor. A rack designed for 500 kg per level and one for 2000 kg per level use different beam profiles and different upright gauges. Always tell your supplier the actual weight of a loaded pallet, not an estimate.

2. Height

Taller uprights need more steel and often heavier sections, because the load at the base increases. Going from 4 metres to 8 metres roughly doubles the upright cost — but it also doubles your storage, so cost per pallet position usually falls.

3. Beam length and pallet size

A beam carrying two 1200 mm pallets is longer and must resist more bending than one carrying a single pallet. Standard beam lengths are cheaper than odd sizes.

4. Steel quality and thickness

This is where quotations differ the most and where buyers get caught. Two suppliers may both say "heavy duty", but one uses 1.6 mm steel and the other 2.0 mm. Always ask for the section size and thickness in mm, in writing.

5. Finish

Powder coating after proper pre-treatment costs more than a quick spray paint, and lasts years longer. For humid, coastal or chemical environments, this is not a place to save money.

6. Accessories and safety items

Mesh or panel decking, pallet supports, column guards and floor anchoring all add cost. Decking alone can add 15–25% — but it is essential if you store loose cartons or odd-sized pallets.

7. Quantity, distance and installation

Larger orders lower the cost per bay. Transport and installation depend on distance from the factory and site conditions — a shed with clear access costs less to install than a crowded basement godown.

A rack is a structure holding tonnes of material above your workers. The cheapest quotation is rarely the cheapest decision.

How to Compare Two Quotations Fairly

Put both quotations side by side and check these six lines. If a supplier cannot answer them, that tells you something.

  • Load per level (kg) — and whether it is UDL (uniformly distributed load)
  • Upright section size and thickness (mm)
  • Beam profile and thickness (mm)
  • Finish — powder coated after pre-treatment, or painted?
  • What is included — decking, guards, anchors, transport, installation
  • Number of pallet positions the layout delivers

That last point matters more than the rate. A slightly costlier quotation that gives you 320 pallet positions is better value than a cheaper one giving 260 in the same shed.

Ways to Genuinely Reduce Cost

  • Use your height. Adding a level to an existing bay is far cheaper than adding a bay.
  • Standardise pallet sizes. Odd sizes force custom beams.
  • Mix systems. Keep expensive pallet racking for palletised stock and use slotted angle racks or heavy duty racks for hand-loaded cartons.
  • Plan for growth. Buy uprights at the height you will eventually need; add beams later.
  • Buy direct from the manufacturer. Every dealer in the chain adds margin.

What Not to Cut

Do not save money on steel thickness, pre-treatment before powder coating, floor anchoring, or column guards in forklift aisles. A single rack collapse costs more than the entire system.

Get an Accurate Quotation

To quote accurately we need four things: your shed's clear height, the pallet size, the weight of a loaded pallet, and how you handle material (forklift, stacker or by hand). With that, we can share a layout showing rack positions, aisle widths and total pallet capacity before anything is fabricated.

StackPro Industries manufactures racking in our own Ghaziabad factory and installs across India. Send us your details or WhatsApp a photo of your shed on +91 99716 61873 for a quotation, usually within 24 hours.
